ACTUATOR
What Is Actuator?
The actuator is the operator mechanism used to open / close a valve. It is mounted on the valve and connected to the valve body. Power-driven actuators (Pneumatic, electric, hydraulic) enable fast operation of large valves. Such actuators are actuated by electrical energy. The actuators allow the valve to be opened and closed, as well as intermediate positions. The limit switch boxes, i-p converters and positioners mounted on these actuators indicate the open / close position of the valve or transmit the information to the automation system.
Electric Actuator
It uses the electric motor to open and close the valve.
Pneumatic Actuator
It uses pneumatic systems powered by compressed air to open and close the valve.
Hydraulic Actuator
It uses hydraulic systems powered by pressurized fluid to open and close the valve.
What all three variants have in common is that they make valves work faster than manual operation. They are often used especially in large valves. All actuators are actuated by electrical energy. Actuators allow intermediate positions in addition to opening and closing the valve. With the limit switch boxes, i-p converters and positioners mounted on these actuators, the open/closed position of the valve can be tracked and the position information can be transmitted to the automation system.
